About the Role
Our client, a prominent media and PR firm located in Edinburgh , is seeking a proactive Public Affairs Officer to manage government relations and advocate for client interests. You will be responsible for monitoring policy developments, engaging with political stakeholders, and developing strategic communication plans to influence public policy and build positive relationships. This role is critical for navigating the complex landscape of public policy and ensuring our clients' voices are heard effectively within the Scottish political sphere, working from a central Edinburgh office.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor legislative and policy developments relevant to clients' industries.
- Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, policymakers, and influencers in Scotland.
- Develop and implement public affairs strategies, including lobbying efforts and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Prepare briefing materials, policy papers, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Organize and manage meetings, events, and consultations with government bodies.
- Analyze the impact of policy changes on clients and recommend strategic responses.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Law, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, policy analysis, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of the Scottish political landscape and legislative process.
- Excellent analytical, research, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience in advocacy and influencing policy is highly desirable.
