About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities for their FMCG operations, based in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK . This critical role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, packaging, and services necessary for production. You will play a key part in driving supply chain efficiency and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability, contributing to the operational success of the business and upholding its commitment to sourcing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies to ensure the consistent supply of high-quality raw materials, packaging, and operational services for the FMCG business.
- Manage and nurture relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews and negotiating favourable terms, pricing, and contracts.
- Oversee the procurement process from requisition to payment, ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical sourcing standards.
- Analyse market trends, commodity prices, and supplier capabilities to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure materials meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Lead and mentor a purchasing team, fostering a collaborative environment focused on achieving departmental and company objectives in Nottingham .
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) as a Purchasing Manager or Senior Buyer within the FMCG or manufacturing sector.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of achieving cost savings while maintaining supplier quality.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, contract management, and supply chain principles.
- Experience with ERP systems and purchasing software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
