QC Equipment Team Leader – Pharmaceutical / GMP Laboratory
📍 North West | 💷 £42,000–£48,000 | 🧪 Permanent – 100% site‑based
Are you a QC professional who thrives on keeping laboratory equipment running at peak performance, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining audit‑ready standards?
One of our long‑standing pharmaceutical partners is expanding and now seeking a QC Equipment Team Leader to take ownership of QC instrumentation, equipment lifecycles and key computerised systems across a busy GMP environment.
This is a hands‑on leadership role with real influence — ideal for someone who enjoys developing people, improving systems, and driving compliance excellence.
What You’ll Be Doing as QC Equipment Team Leader:
- Leading the full lifecycle of QC laboratory equipment — particularly HPLC systems — from procurement and qualification through to maintenance, change control and retirement.
- Managing and executing validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and overseeing site calibration programmes, including coordination of external service providers.
- Acting as system owner for key QC platforms (e.g., Empower, LabX), ensuring robust CSV, data integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Maintaining equipment and validation status within electronic systems such as LIMS, ensuring audit‑ready documentation at all times.
- Authoring and approving validation documentation, leading deviation investigations, impact assessments and CAPAs.
- Providing day‑to‑day leadership, coaching and development to a small QC equipment/systems team, and representing QC during internal and external audits.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Degree (BSc or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong hands‑on experience with HPLC, including troubleshooting and maintenance, within a GMP‑regulated QC laboratory.
- Proven team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Solid background in equipment qualification, validation, calibration and technical troubleshooting.
- Experience with QC computerised systems (Empower, LabX or other CDS platforms) and a strong understanding of CSV and Data Integrity principles.
- Confident communication skills and experience supporting audits.
❗ Please note: Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK, as this role cannot offer visa sponsorship
