Quality Engineer
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer to join an established precision engineering and manufacturing business based in Abingdon.
This is a hands-on quality position with a strong focus on manufacturing quality, inspection and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with production, customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues, improve processes and ensure components consistently meet the required standards.
The Role
As Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Managing non-conformances and customer complaints using 8D, 5 Why and root cause analysis
- Liaising directly with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues
- Supporting manufacturing teams with inspection and quality requirements
- Carrying out **system, process and supplier audits
- Creating Quality Control Plans and customer quality documentation
- Supporting the calibration and management of measurement and test equipment
- Producing inspection reports, trend analysis and customer documentation packs
- Reviewing engineering drawings and determining appropriate inspection and measurement techniques
- Training operators in inspection methods and equipment
- Driving improvements across inspection and quality processes
What We're Looking For
- Around 5+ years' experience within Quality Engineering or a closely related manufacturing quality position
- Background within precision engineering, machining, CNC or mechanical manufacturing
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering drawings and dimensional inspection
- Experience with 8D, 5 Why, NCRs and root cause investigation
- Experience carrying out quality/process audits
- Good customer and supplier communication skills
- Practical understanding of inspection and measurement equipment
Desirable Experience
- CMM programming
- PC-DMIS
- Experience with Hexagon CMM equipment
- ISO 9000/9001 auditing qualification
