Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to managing the financial aspects of construction projects, from initial cost estimation to final account settlement. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are delivered profitably and efficiently. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit detailed bills of quantities, cost estimates, and tender documents.
• Monitor project expenditure, manage variations, and process interim and final payments.
• Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favourable terms and pricing.
• Conduct site visits to measure work executed and assess progress against contract requirements.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare final accounts and ensure timely settlement of all contractual obligations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction sector.
• Strong understanding of contract law, procurement routes, and construction economics.
• Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
