Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their established construction team based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations to final figures. You will be responsible for ensuring projects remain within budget while maintaining the required quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors, providing essential commercial and contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and negotiate tender documents and contracts.
• Manage and control project costs, including estimating, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Valuing and submitting interim and final accounts for project work.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure commercial objectives are met.
• Processing and agreeing on variations and claims.

Requirements

• Qualified as a Quantity Surveyor or in a related construction commercial discipline.
• Demonstrable experience in managing costs and contracts within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in using cost management software and MS Excel.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Excellent understanding of contract law and procurement routes within the UK construction sector.
