Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to join their technical team in Reading . This role is crucial for the deployment, optimization, and maintenance of their mobile network's RAN infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, capacity, and quality of service for mobile users, working with the latest technologies in 4G and 5G networks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of radio propagation, antenna systems, and base station technologies, contributing to the seamless operation of their advanced telecoms network.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain RAN equipment, including base stations and antennas.
• Perform network optimization activities to improve coverage, capacity, and call quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to radio network performance and connectivity.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new RAN deployments.
• Collaborate with planning and core network teams to ensure seamless integration.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a RAN Engineer or in a similar mobile network engineering role.
• In-depth knowledge of 4G LTE and 5G NR technologies and standards.
• Experience with RAN planning tools and performance analysis software.
• Understanding of radio propagation, antenna theory, and interference management.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
