Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer - Telecoms

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to join their innovative team in Sheffield . This role is critical for the design, optimisation, and testing of wireless telecommunications systems, including mobile networks and broadcast technologies. You will be involved in ensuring optimal signal quality, coverage, and capacity for advanced wireless solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design and plan RF network coverage using specialised planning tools, ensuring optimal signal strength and minimal interference.
• Conduct site surveys, drive testing, and performance analysis of wireless networks to identify areas for improvement.
• Optimise RF parameters for cellular and wireless systems to enhance capacity, quality, and user experience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve RF-related issues, including interference, poor signal strength, and capacity constraints.
• Evaluate and select appropriate RF hardware, including antennas, amplifiers, and transmitters.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in RF engineering and wireless communication technologies, contributing to research and development efforts.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in RF engineering, specifically within the telecoms sector .
• Proficiency with RF planning and optimisation tools (e.g., Planet, Atoll).
• Strong understanding of radio propagation principles, cellular technologies (4G, 5G), and wireless standards.
• Experience with RF measurement equipment, including spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
• Ability to analyse complex RF data and develop effective solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
