Real Estate Development Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and strategic Real Estate Development Manager to join their team in Edinburgh, Scotland . This hybrid role is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of property development projects, from initial concept and feasibility studies through to construction, marketing, and final sale or lease. You will manage budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the Scottish development sector , excellent project management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with external consultants, contractors, and local authorities in a dynamic hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate potential development sites and opportunities within the Edinburgh property market .
• Conduct feasibility studies, financial viability assessments, and risk analyses for new development projects.
• Manage the planning application process, working closely with architects, planners, and local authorities.
• Oversee the appointment and management of consultants, contractors, and development partners.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality specifications, managing construction phases effectively.
• Develop marketing and sales/leasing strategies for completed developments, liaising with sales and letting agents.

Requirements

• Substantial experience in property development, project management, or a related field, preferably within Scotland .
• Strong understanding of the development process, planning regulations, and construction management.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and investment appraisal skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Relevant degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Planning, or a related discipline.
