Remote Automotive Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a creative and skilled Remote Automotive Design Engineer to join their innovative team, working from anywhere in the UK. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative automotive components and systems, focusing on aesthetic appeal, functionality, and manufacturability. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes, applied within a collaborative, remote environment. You will contribute to the visual and functional direction of future vehicle models, pushing the boundaries of automotive design.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for automotive components and assemblies using industry-standard software.
• Create design concepts, sketches, and renderings to visualize new ideas and solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers and product teams to ensure designs meet technical requirements and performance targets.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for new designs, considering cost and feasibility.
• Conduct design reviews and solicit feedback from stakeholders to refine designs.
• Stay updated on automotive design trends and emerging technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in automotive design, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or Alias.
• Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Excellent aesthetic sense, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with rendering software and visualization techniques is a plus.
