About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Remote Automotive Electronics Engineer to join their growing team, supporting their operations from Plymouth . This fully remote position allows you to contribute to the design and development of advanced electronic systems for next-generation vehicles without the need to commute. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of automotive technology, focusing on areas such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, and vehicle control units. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced electronics engineer to work on challenging projects in a flexible, remote-first environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test electronic hardware for automotive applications, including microcontrollers, sensors, and power management systems.
- Create schematics, PCB layouts, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using industry-standard EDA tools.
- Develop and implement embedded software (firmware) for electronic control units (ECUs).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, systems) to ensure seamless integration of electronic components.
- Perform troubleshooting and debugging of electronic systems, both in simulation and on hardware prototypes.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automotive electronics and semiconductor technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in automotive electronics design.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence).
- Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex), and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
- Experience with firmware development in C/C++.
- Knowledge of automotive functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) is a plus.
