About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remote Avionics Software Developer to contribute to the design and implementation of cutting-edge avionics systems. This position involves developing embedded software for flight control, navigation, and communication systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance. Working entirely remotely, you will collaborate with a distributed team of engineers, contributing to the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to testing and deployment. This role is perfect for an experienced developer who excels in an independent work environment and has a passion for aviation technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for avionics systems using C/C++ and other relevant languages.
- Implement software components according to stringent safety standards (e.g., DO-178C) and project requirements.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and hardware engineers to define software requirements and architecture.
- Perform software integration, unit testing, and system testing to ensure software functionality and performance.
- Troubleshoot and debug software issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience in embedded software development , with a focus on real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and a strong understanding of software engineering principles.
- Experience with avionics systems, flight control software, or related aerospace domains is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycles, version control systems (e.g., Git), and debugging tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively and independently in a remote setting from Portsmouth .
