About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Remote Category Manager specializing in Indirect Spend to join their forward-thinking procurement function. This role operates entirely remotely, allowing you to manage procurement strategies from anywhere within the UK. You will be responsible for defining and executing category strategies for a range of indirect spend areas, driving value, innovation, and cost savings through effective supplier management and market intelligence. This is a key position that requires strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, contributing to the company's strategic goals without geographical constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead category strategies for key indirect spend areas, including IT, professional services, and facilities management.
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis, supplier assessments, and benchmarking to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Lead complex sourcing events and contract negotiations to secure optimal terms and value.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal business partners to understand their needs and ensure alignment.
- Manage supplier performance, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the supply base.
- Oversee the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for assigned categories, ensuring compliance and best practice adoption.
Requirements
- Significant experience in category management , strategic sourcing, or a similar procurement role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing indirect spend categories and delivering substantial cost savings.
- Expertise in contract negotiation , supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, effective in a remote setting.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; CIPS qualification is highly desirable.
