About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Category Manager to oversee their indirect spend procurement from anywhere in the UK. This position is critical for developing and executing category strategies that drive maximum value and efficiency across non-production goods and services. You will be responsible for analyzing spend, identifying savings opportunities, and managing supplier relationships within your designated categories. This role is ideal for a seasoned procurement professional who thrives in a remote setting and is adept at managing complex procurement initiatives without direct physical oversight, contributing significantly to the company's purchasing excellence from a distance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement robust category strategies for indirect spend areas, such as IT, marketing, facilities, and professional services.
- Conduct comprehensive spend analysis and market intelligence gathering to identify cost reduction and value enhancement opportunities.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including RFx development, supplier evaluation, and contract negotiation.
- Manage key supplier relationships, ensuring performance, compliance, and strategic alignment.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across various departments to understand their needs and drive procurement best practices.
- Monitor category performance against KPIs and budgets, reporting regularly to senior management.
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Category Manager or in a similar strategic procurement role, with a focus on indirect spend.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing category strategies and achieving substantial cost savings.
- Expertise in sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in spend analysis tools and techniques.
- Excellent remote communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
