About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and experienced Remote Category Manager to oversee the procurement of indirect spend categories for their UK operations. This fully remote role is crucial for developing and executing category strategies that drive significant cost savings, improve supplier performance, and mitigate risks. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of spend areas, including IT, facilities, marketing, and professional services, working autonomously from a remote location. This position requires a deep understanding of procurement best practices and the ability to influence stakeholders across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for assigned indirect spend categories.
- Conduct market intelligence and supplier analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities and innovation potential.
- Lead complex negotiations with suppliers, managing contracts and ensuring performance against SLAs.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and align category strategies accordingly.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance reviews, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Significant experience (5+ years) in category management, strategic sourcing, or a senior procurement role, with a focus on indirect spend.
- Proven track record of delivering substantial cost savings and value through effective category strategies.
- Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, and risk mitigation.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, adapted for a remote environment.
- MCIPS or equivalent is highly preferred.
