Remote Chemical Engineer - Safety & Compliance

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer specializing in Safety & Compliance to join their fully remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all chemical processes and operations meet stringent regulatory requirements and internal safety standards across the organization. You will conduct risk assessments, develop safety protocols, and advise on best practices to foster a culture of safety. This remote position allows you to leverage your expertise to impact operations globally, providing essential guidance and support from your home office, contributing to our client's unwavering commitment to operational integrity and responsible chemical manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety management systems for chemical operations.
• Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of processes and facilities.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international chemical safety regulations (e.g., COMAH, OSHA).
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice on process safety, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to relevant personnel remotely.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety-focused discipline.
• Significant experience (8+ years) in chemical process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles and standards.
• Experience with HAZOP, LOPA, and other hazard identification techniques.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration and reporting.
