Remote Chemical Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Remote Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their global operations. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of safety across all chemical processes and facilities, remotely supporting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety management systems. You will be a key advisor, providing expert guidance on regulatory compliance, incident investigation, and the implementation of best practices in process safety. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of chemical hazards and controls, coupled with exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across different time zones, working in a fully remote capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
• Investigate process safety incidents, root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Provide expert advice on regulatory compliance (e.g., COMAH, OSHA PSM) and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training materials to site-based and remote personnel.
• Review engineering designs and modifications for process safety implications before implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in chemical process safety engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of process safety principles, methodologies, and relevant regulations.
• Proven experience in conducting various types of PHAs and risk assessments.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously from a remote location.
