Remote Chief Mining Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Mining Engineer to lead their technical operations, working entirely remotely with a nominal base in Norwich, Norfolk . This executive-level position requires a visionary leader to oversee all aspects of mine engineering, planning, and technical strategy across the company's global portfolio. You will drive innovation, ensure operational excellence, and provide critical expertise in designing and implementing safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices for complex projects worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall technical leadership and strategic direction for all mining engineering activities.
• Oversee the development and execution of long-term and short-term mine plans for multiple projects.
• Ensure the application of best practices in mine design, production, safety, and environmental management.
• Lead feasibility studies, technical due diligence, and capital investment appraisals for new projects and expansions.
• Manage and mentor a team of senior mining engineers and technical specialists.
• Stay abreast of technological advancements and innovative practices in the global mining industry.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in mining engineering, with significant leadership responsibilities.
• Proven expertise in open-pit and underground mining methods, mine planning software, and operational optimization.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale mining projects from conception through to closure.
• Strong financial acumen, including experience with economic evaluations and project finance.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, capable of leading a distributed global team effectively.
