About the Role

Our client seeks a highly experienced and dedicated Remote Chief Mining Safety Officer to champion and oversee all health and safety initiatives across their global mining operations. This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing comprehensive safety policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all personnel and the protection of the environment. As a fully remote position, you will leverage advanced communication tools and digital platforms to coordinate with site-based safety teams, conduct virtual audits, and drive a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of mining safety regulations, a proactive approach to risk management, and the leadership skills necessary to influence safety practices from a distance, ensuring the highest standards are met irrespective of geographical location.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's comprehensive health and safety management system.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with all national and international mining safety regulations and standards.
• Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff across remote platforms.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, communication, and visible leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining health and safety, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• In-depth knowledge of mining operations, hazards, and risk management principles.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety management systems.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills, adapted for remote work.
• Professional safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP) are highly desirable.
