About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Mine Safety Officer to support their operations, including those near Edinburgh . This role focuses on promoting and enforcing a strong safety culture across all mining activities, ensuring compliance with stringent health and safety regulations. While working remotely, you will be instrumental in developing safety programs, conducting risk assessments, delivering training, and investigating incidents to prevent future occurrences. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive mine safety management systems and procedures.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and identify potential hazards in operational areas.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation in the UK.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs and toolbox talks for site personnel.
• Lead and participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to management.
• Promote a positive safety culture and engage with employees at all levels to foster safe working practices.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, NVQ).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mine safety role, preferably within the UK mining sector.
• In-depth knowledge of mining hazards, safety regulations, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills, adapted for remote engagement.
