About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a skilled and proactive Remote Civil Engineer with a specialization in Water Resources to join their distributed engineering team. This role is critical for conceptualizing, designing, and managing projects related to water management, flood defence, drainage, and sustainable water solutions. Operating entirely remotely, you will collaborate with colleagues and clients across the UK, leveraging technology to ensure seamless project communication and delivery. This is a fantastic opportunity for an independent and experienced engineer to contribute to vital environmental projects from the comfort of their home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse sustainable drainage systems (SuDS), flood alleviation measures, and water management strategies.
- Develop hydraulic models for rivers, urban drainage networks, and coastal environments.
- Prepare technical reports, environmental impact assessments, and design documentation for water-related projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and options appraisals for new water resource developments.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and regulatory bodies via digital communication channels.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant environmental legislation and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in water resources engineering, with a strong portfolio of relevant projects.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, InfoWorks ICM, SWMM) and GIS tools.
- Excellent report writing skills and the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
- Strong understanding of flood risk assessment, water quality, and environmental permitting processes.
