Remote Computational Biologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and highly motivated Remote Computational Biologist to join their pioneering team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will play a critical role in analyzing large-scale biological datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics, to uncover novel biological insights and drive drug discovery initiatives. You will collaborate closely with experimental biologists, bioinformaticians, and data scientists to develop and implement cutting-edge computational methods, contributing to a data-driven approach to understanding complex biological systems and advancing our client's research pipeline from your home office.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and apply computational and statistical methods to analyze diverse biological datasets (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.).
• Design and implement algorithms for pattern recognition, pathway analysis, and biomarker discovery.
• Collaborate with experimental teams to interpret results and generate testable hypotheses.
• Build and maintain scalable data analysis pipelines and databases.
• Visualize complex biological data effectively for clear communication to diverse audiences.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in computational biology, bioinformatics, and relevant biological fields.

Requirements

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Proven experience in analyzing large-scale biological datasets using programming languages such as Python or R.
• Strong understanding of molecular biology, genetics, and biological pathways.
• Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and containerization (e.g., Docker) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and productively in a remote setting.
