Remote Crop Protection Scientist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly skilled Remote Crop Protection Scientist to join their innovative research and development team, operating remotely from the Bristol region. This position focuses on the research, development, and evaluation of novel crop protection solutions, including pesticides, biologicals, and integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. You will leverage your scientific expertise to analyze data, design experiments (often remotely coordinated), and provide strategic recommendations to guide product development and registration efforts. This role is crucial for advancing sustainable agriculture through the creation of effective and environmentally responsible solutions for farmers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research into the efficacy and safety of new crop protection products and strategies.
• Design and analyze field and laboratory trials to evaluate pest, disease, and weed control.
• Interpret complex scientific data and generate comprehensive technical reports.
• Provide expert guidance on regulatory requirements and product registration processes related to crop protection.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, and regulatory affairs, via virtual platforms.
• Stay current with scientific literature, industry trends, and emerging threats in crop protection.

Requirements

• PhD or Master's degree in Plant Pathology, Entomology, Weed Science, Agronomy, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in crop protection research and development, ideally within the agrochemical or biotechnology industry.
• Strong understanding of pesticide action, biological control agents, and integrated pest management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and interpret scientific experiments.
• Excellent scientific writing and data presentation skills for remote communication.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing crop protection products.
