Remote Data Protection Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced and proactive Remote Data Protection Officer to lead their data privacy initiatives across the organisation. This crucial role will ensure compliance with GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations, developing and implementing robust data privacy strategies from the comfort of your own home. You will act as the primary point of contact for data protection matters, advising on all aspects of privacy law and promoting a culture of data responsibility. This is a key leadership position for an expert in the field, offering significant autonomy and the ability to shape data privacy practices for a forward-thinking company, with a fully remote setup.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive data protection policies and procedures.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on privacy by design principles.
• Monitor compliance with GDPR and other applicable data protection laws and regulations.
• Act as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and the primary contact for supervisory authorities.
• Provide expert training and guidance to employees on data protection best practices.
• Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and other individual rights requests.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Protection Officer or in a similar senior data privacy role.
• In-depth knowledge of GDPR and other international data protection legislation.
• Relevant certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent.
• Excellent understanding of IT and data security principles.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage a complex workload from a remote location, ideally within the UK for regulatory alignment.
