Remote Electrical Design Engineer - Power Systems

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated and experienced Remote Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join their forward-thinking team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the UK. You will be responsible for the end-to-end design of electrical power systems, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and compliant with all relevant regulations. You will collaborate virtually with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to deliver state-of-the-art power solutions. This role is ideal for a self-motivated engineer who excels in a remote setting and thrives on contributing to critical infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer high-voltage and low-voltage electrical power distribution systems.
• Perform load flow analysis, short circuit calculations, and protection coordination studies.
• Develop single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and control logic for power systems.
• Utilize ETAP or similar power system analysis software extensively.
• Collaborate with project teams remotely via video conferencing and collaboration tools.
• Ensure designs meet safety standards, such as BS 7671, and other relevant industry codes.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience focused on electrical power systems design .
• Proven expertise in using power system simulation and analysis software (e.g., ETAP , PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Strong knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution concepts.
• Experience with switchgear, transformers, generators, and protection relays.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
