Remote Geotechnical Engineer - Mining Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Remote Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team, focusing on mining projects . This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will provide expert geotechnical analysis and design recommendations for mine infrastructure, slope stability, and underground excavations. Your work will be crucial in ensuring the safety and stability of our clients' mining operations worldwide, requiring strong analytical capabilities and effective communication across distributed teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical investigations , including data analysis, ground characterization, and risk assessment for mining sites.
• Develop geotechnical designs for mine infrastructure, including portals, shafts, tunnels, and tailings dams.
• Conduct slope stability analyses and provide recommendations for open-pit and underground mines.
• Utilize advanced numerical modelling software to simulate ground behaviour and assess potential hazards.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with remote engineering teams, geologists, and project managers via digital communication tools.

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering , with significant exposure to the mining industry.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages such as Plaxis, FLAC, or GeoStudio.
• Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience with seismic interpretation and risk assessment for mine structures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
