About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Remote Geotechnical Engineer to provide expert analysis and design recommendations for their global mining projects. This role is critical for ensuring the stability and safety of all underground and surface excavations, tailings dams, and infrastructure. You will conduct detailed geotechnical assessments, interpret site investigation data, and develop robust engineering solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled geotechnical engineer to contribute to major projects from a remote location, collaborating with diverse teams and impacting the success and safety of critical mining operations worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical investigations, including slope stability analysis, foundation design, and soil mechanics assessments.
- Analyze data from site investigations (e.g., boreholes, CPTs, laboratory testing) to characterize ground conditions.
- Design and oversee the implementation of geotechnical solutions for mine openings, waste rock facilities, and tailings storage.
- Develop technical specifications and drawings for geotechnical works.
- Conduct risk assessments related to geotechnical hazards and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Provide remote technical support and guidance to project teams on geotechnical matters.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, preferably within the mining or civil infrastructure sector.
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., Plaxis, Rocscience suite, GeoStudio).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills for remote collaboration.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable.
