Remote Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Remote Mechanical Engineer to join their fully remote product development team, based remotely but serving clients across the UK, including those in Leeds . This role is essential for the conceptualization, design, and refinement of new mechanical products. You will leverage your expertise in mechanical principles and design tools to create innovative solutions that meet market demands and client specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design process for new product development, from initial concept generation to final design freeze.
• Utilize advanced CAD software (e.g., Inventor, Fusion 360) for 3D modelling, drafting, and generating detailed technical documentation.
• Conduct rigorous engineering analysis , including stress, thermal, and vibration simulations, to ensure design robustness and performance.
• Collaborate effectively with remote cross-functional teams (electrical, software, industrial design) using digital collaboration platforms.
• Specify materials, select components, and liaise with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Contribute to design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and implement design improvements based on testing and validation results.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and product development, with a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency in modern 3D CAD software and simulation (FEA/CFD) tools .
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote work environment .
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
