About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Mine Environmental Compliance Officer to join their remote team, ensuring all operations meet stringent environmental standards from Bristol or any suitable location within the UK . This role is critical for monitoring environmental impact, developing mitigation strategies, and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations and permits. You will work closely with operational teams and external agencies to promote sustainable mining practices. This position is ideal for an environmentally conscious professional who excels in independent, remote work and is committed to minimizing the ecological footprint of mining activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on environmental performance across mining sites, ensuring compliance with permits and regulations.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans, including waste management, water quality, and land rehabilitation strategies.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments and audits for new and existing projects.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, government bodies, and stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Investigate environmental incidents, propose corrective actions, and oversee their implementation.
- Stay current with evolving environmental legislation and best practices in the mining sector.
Requirements
- Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and impact assessment methodologies.
- Proficiency in environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage a remote workload effectively and travel to sites as needed.
