Remote Process Simulation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Process Simulation Engineer to join their established, fully remote team. This critical role focuses on developing and utilizing advanced process models to optimize designs, troubleshoot operations, and predict performance across a range of chemical processes. You will leverage your expertise in simulation software to provide key insights and drive efficiency gains, working collaboratively with engineers globally from your home office in the Stoke-on-Trent region or elsewhere.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and maintain dynamic and steady-state process simulation models using industry-standard software (Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, UniSim).
• Conduct process optimisation studies, debottlenecking analyses, and sensitivity analyses using simulation tools.
• Assist in the design of new processes and modifications to existing ones by providing simulation-based recommendations.
• Troubleshoot operational issues by developing simulation models that replicate plant behaviour.
• Collaborate remotely with project teams, R&D, and operations to support project milestones and problem-solving efforts.
• Prepare clear and concise reports detailing simulation methodologies, results, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process simulation and modeling within the chemical industry .
• Expert proficiency with major process simulation packages like Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or similar.
• Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, including thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and reaction engineering.
• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Experience with scripting or programming for simulation automation is a plus.
