Repairs Surveyor Location: Romford, East London Rate: £35 per hour Contract: Initial 3 months Working Hours: 36 hours per week IR35 Status: Inside IR35 Carrington West is currently recruiting for an experienced Repairs Surveyor to join a local authority in Romford on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced housing repairs professional to join a busy team, overseeing responsive repairs and ensuring that properties are maintained to a high standard while delivering an effective service to residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections to identify defects, diagnose repair requirements and recommend appropriate remedial works.
• Manage and oversee responsive repairs and maintenance works across a portfolio of residential properties.
• Prepare detailed schedules of works, specifications and associated documentation.
• Monitor contractors to ensure repairs are completed to the required quality standards, within agreed timescales and budgets.
• Investigate and respond to reports of damp, mould, water ingress and other property defects.
• Liaise with tenants, contractors and internal teams to ensure repairs are delivered efficiently and with minimal disruption to residents.
• Undertake post-inspections to assess the quality of completed works and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs and contractor performance. Essential Requirements:
• Previous experience working as a Repairs Surveyor, ideally within a local authority or social housing environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of residential building construction, defects and maintenance requirements.
• Experience managing responsive repairs and overseeing contractors.
• Good understanding of housing maintenance legislation, health and safety requirements and relevant property standards.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
• Ability to work independently and provide practical solutions to property-related issues. What's on Offer?
