Research Scientist - Medicinal Chemistry

About the Role

Our client is looking for a creative and driven Research Scientist specializing in Medicinal Chemistry to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This hybrid role allows for a balance between on-site laboratory work and remote engagement. You will be responsible for the design, synthesis, and optimization of novel small molecules with therapeutic potential, working collaboratively to advance drug discovery programs. This position requires a strong synthetic chemistry background and a passion for applying chemical principles to solve challenging biological problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel small molecules targeting specific biological pathways.
• Optimize lead compounds for improved potency, selectivity, and pharmacokinetic properties.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using techniques such as NMR, LC-MS, and HPLC.
• Collaborate closely with biologists and other chemists to advance drug discovery projects.
• Maintain detailed records of synthetic procedures and experimental results.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
• Demonstrated experience in synthetic organic chemistry, with a strong publication record.
• Experience in drug discovery, preferably within a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
• Proficiency with modern synthetic methodologies and purification techniques.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
