Research Scientist - Neuroscience

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and dedicated Research Scientist to join their pioneering neuroscience department in Edinburgh . This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research focused on understanding the complexities of the central nervous system and developing novel therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, utilizing state-of-the-art techniques in molecular biology, electrophysiology, and neuroimaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background in neuroscience, a passion for discovery, and the ability to drive research projects forward. This hybrid role allows for a balance of in-lab experimentation and remote data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments investigating neuronal function, synaptic plasticity, and neurodegenerative mechanisms.
• Utilize advanced techniques such as patch-clamp electrophysiology , calcium imaging, and immunohistochemistry.
• Analyze and interpret complex neuroscientific data using specialized software.
• Contribute to the development of new research methodologies and experimental approaches.
• Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a dynamic research environment.

Requirements

• PhD in Neuroscience , Biology, or a related field with a strong emphasis on neuroscience.
• Proven experience in performing and analyzing electrophysiological recordings.
• Familiarity with standard molecular and cellular biology techniques applicable to neuroscience research.
• Experience with neuroimaging techniques is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
