About the Role
Our client is recruiting a talented Research Scientist with a strong background in polymer chemistry to join their innovative R&D team. This role, based in Stoke-on-Trent , focuses on the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel polymers for a range of advanced applications. Key Responsibilities
- Synthesize and characterize novel polymers using various polymerization techniques (e.g., radical, condensation, ring-opening).
- Investigate the structure-property relationships of synthesized polymers.
- Utilize advanced spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques for polymer characterization.
- Develop new polymer formulations and processing methods for specific applications.
- Collaborate with engineers and product development teams to translate research findings into practical solutions.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments and contribute to scientific publications and patent applications.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
- Strong theoretical understanding and practical experience in polymer synthesis and characterization.
- Proficiency in techniques such as GPC, NMR, FTIR, DSC, and TGA.
- Experience with polymer processing techniques (e.g., extrusion, injection molding) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
