Research Scientist - Structural Biology

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist specializing in Structural Biology to join their dedicated R&D team in Bristol . This role is crucial for elucidating the three-dimensional structures of biological targets and protein-ligand complexes, providing essential insights for drug discovery. You will utilize state-of-the-art techniques, including X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM, to support ongoing therapeutic development programs. Key Responsibilities

• Express, purify, and characterize protein targets and complexes for structural studies.
• Determine protein structures using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
• Analyze and interpret structural data, correlating findings with biological activity and function.
• Collaborate with medicinal chemists and biologists to facilitate structure-based drug design.
• Maintain and operate structural biology equipment, ensuring high-quality data generation.
• Contribute to project strategy and present findings to internal teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in protein expression, purification, and characterization.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM techniques, including data collection and structure determination.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software and visualization tools.
• Strong understanding of molecular biology and drug discovery principles.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
