About the Role
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Research Scientist to join their innovative Synthetic Biology group within the Scientific Research & Development department based in Stoke-on-Trent . This role focuses on designing, building, and testing novel biological systems and engineered pathways for a variety of applications. Key Responsibilities
- Design and construct DNA constructs and genetic circuits for synthetic biology applications.
- Perform molecular cloning, strain engineering, and fermentation experiments.
- Characterize engineered biological systems using a range of analytical techniques, including spectroscopy and chromatography.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and contribute to the optimization of biological designs.
- Collaborate with team members on project planning, execution, and troubleshooting.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records and contribute to scientific reports and presentations.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, genetic engineering, and microbial cultivation.
- Familiarity with design-build-test-learn cycles in biological engineering.
- Experience with data analysis software and basic statistical methods.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to experimental work.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a lab-based environment in Stoke-on-Trent .
