Secondary Tutor - St Helens

Location: St Helens Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: September 2026 Duration: Ongoing

Prospero Teaching are recruiting for an experienced Secondary Tutor to provide flexible 1:1 tuition to a young person in St Helens.

We're looking for an educator who can deliver purposeful lessons, establish a strong rapport with their learner and help them make meaningful progress across their secondary education.

The Role Includes Delivering personalised secondary-level tuition Creating structured and engaging lesson plans Supporting the learner with core academic skills Identifying barriers to progress and adapting teaching accordingly Developing confidence and motivation Monitoring learning and reporting on progress Providing consistent encouragement and support

Requirements

Experience teaching or tutoring at secondary level Good knowledge of the secondary curriculum Previous 1:1 tuition experience advantageous Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching experience desirable Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one Right to Work in the UK Two professional references relating to work with children
