Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking an alert and vigilant Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their dedicated security team in Stoke-on-Trent . This essential role involves real-time monitoring of the organization's network and systems to detect, analyze, and respond to cybersecurity threats. You will be on the front lines of defense, working within a structured SOC environment to protect critical assets and minimize the impact of security incidents. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools and systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls).
• Analyze security incidents to determine their scope, impact, and root cause.
• Respond to security incidents according to established playbooks and procedures.
• Escalate critical security events to senior analysts or incident response teams.
• Maintain accurate and detailed logs of security events and incident response actions.
• Participate in threat hunting activities to proactively identify potential security compromises.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 years of experience in a SOC, security monitoring, or incident response role.
• Familiarity with SIEM tools, network protocols, and common attack vectors.
• Understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and security principles.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment if required (shifts may apply).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
