Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and detail-oriented Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their dedicated security team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is central to the continuous monitoring of the organization's network and systems for security threats, detecting intrusions, and initiating appropriate responses to safeguard digital assets. You will work within a fast-paced SOC environment, utilizing advanced security tools to analyze security events and protect the company from evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from SIEM, IDS/IPS, and other security tools in real-time.
• Analyze security incidents to determine scope, impact, and root cause.
• Respond to security alerts according to established incident response playbooks.
• Escalate security incidents to senior analysts or relevant teams as needed.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of SOC procedures and detection rules.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of security events and actions taken.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Foundational knowledge of cyber security principles, networking, and operating systems.
• Experience with security monitoring tools, particularly SIEM solutions, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with common cyber attack methods and threat intelligence.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by the SOC rotation.
