Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and analytical Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their dedicated security team in Derby . In this role, you will be at the front line of defense, monitoring security systems, detecting threats, and responding to security incidents. You will play a crucial part in maintaining the integrity and security of the organization's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of security threats, and a desire to contribute to a secure operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, including SIEM, firewalls, and IDS/IPS.
• Investigate and analyze potential security incidents, determining their scope and impact.
• Perform initial response actions to contain and mitigate security threats.
• Document security incidents and actions taken in accordance with established procedures.
• Collaborate with other IT security team members to enhance detection and response capabilities.
• Participate in the continuous improvement of SOC procedures and playbooks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a security operations or cybersecurity role.
• Familiarity with security monitoring tools, including SIEM and EDR solutions.
• Understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and common cybersecurity threats.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
