Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to bolster their security efforts in Stoke-on-Trent . Working a hybrid schedule, you will be at the forefront of defending the organisation's network and systems by monitoring for threats, analysing security alerts, and responding to incidents. This role is crucial for maintaining operational security and ensuring the integrity of our digital assets. You will gain valuable experience with a wide array of security tools and technologies in a dynamic environment, contributing directly to the protection of sensitive information and the uninterrupted operation of business services.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Investigate and analyse potential security incidents, identifying root causes and recommending remediation steps.
• Respond to security alerts in a timely and efficient manner, following established procedures.
• Document all security events, investigations, and resolutions accurately.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and procedures.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure security best practices are implemented across the infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a SOC Analyst role or similar cybersecurity operations position.
• Understanding of common cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
• Experience with SIEM tools and security monitoring principles.
• Familiarity with network protocols and operating system security.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure.
