Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and detail-oriented Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their expanding security team, offering the flexibility of remote work from Sunderland . In this role, you will be at the forefront of monitoring, detecting, and responding to cybersecurity threats and incidents in real-time. You will utilize advanced security tools and technologies to protect the organisation's digital assets and ensure the integrity of its IT systems. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint solutions.
• Analyze security incidents, investigate potential threats, and determine the scope and impact of breaches.
• Escalate critical security events to senior analysts or incident response teams as per established protocols.
• Perform threat hunting activities to proactively identify Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) and malicious activities.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of security incidents and actions taken.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience working in a SOC environment or in a related IT security role.
• Familiarity with common security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques.
• Proficiency with security monitoring tools such as SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, ELK stack), EDR, and network analysis tools.
• Understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and basic scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
