Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and detail-oriented Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their growing team in Sunderland . You will play a crucial role in monitoring, detecting, and responding to security threats and incidents across the organization's network and systems. This position requires a keen eye for anomalies and the ability to act swiftly and decisively to protect against cyberattacks. As a SOC Analyst, you will be at the forefront of the company's defense, ensuring the integrity and availability of its digital infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and events from various security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, etc.).
• Investigate security incidents, identify root causes, and recommend remediation steps.
• Perform initial triage of security alerts, distinguishing between genuine threats and false positives.
• Document security incidents and actions taken in a clear and concise manner.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC processes and playbooks.
• Analyze network traffic and system logs for suspicious activity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a SOC, security monitoring, or incident response role.
• Familiarity with security concepts, protocols, and technologies.
• Experience with SIEM tools and understanding of log analysis.
• Basic knowledge of networking and operating systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
