About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their team in Portsmouth , operating on a hybrid basis. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring security alerts, detecting and responding to cyber threats, and contributing to the overall security posture of the organisation. You will work with advanced security tools and collaborate with the wider IT security team to protect against a wide range of cyber risks. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for cybersecurity and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts from various sources, including SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR systems.
- Investigate security incidents, determine their scope and impact, and take appropriate response actions.
- Perform initial triage of security events, escalating complex issues to senior analysts or management.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC playbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Assist in the analysis of threat intelligence to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of security events and actions taken.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in a SOC environment or related cybersecurity role.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools and security monitoring concepts.
- Understanding of common cyber threats, attack vectors, and mitigation techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
