Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and proactive Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their established security team based in Stoke-on-Trent . In this crucial role, you will be at the forefront of defending the organisation against cyber threats, monitoring security alerts, and responding to incidents in real-time. Your ability to analyse complex data, identify malicious activity, and take swift action will be key to protecting our client's critical infrastructure and sensitive data. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from various sources, including SIEM , IDS/IPS, and endpoint security tools.
• Investigate potential security incidents, analyse threat activity, and determine scope and impact.
• Respond to security incidents, execute containment, eradication, and recovery procedures.
• Perform regular threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate emerging threats.
• Triage and escalate security events to appropriate teams or external agencies when necessary.
• Document security incidents, investigations, and response actions accurately.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC procedures and playbooks.

Requirements

• Experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment or a related IT security role.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking concepts, and common attack vectors.
• Familiarity with security monitoring tools, such as SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack), IDS/IPS, and antivirus solutions.
• Ability to analyse log data and network traffic for signs of compromise.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CCNA Security are a plus.
