About the Role
Our client is looking for a vigilant Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to join their dedicated team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . In this role, you will be on the front lines of defense, monitoring security systems, detecting threats, and initiating responses to protect the organization's digital assets. You will work within a dynamic SOC environment, analyzing security alerts, investigating suspicious activities, and contributing to the overall security posture of the company, ensuring continuous protection against cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor SIEM dashboards and security alerts for potential threats and anomalies.
- Investigate security incidents, performing initial triage and analysis to determine scope and impact.
- Respond to security alerts, escalating incidents as per established procedures.
- Analyze security logs and network traffic for signs of compromise.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC procedures and playbooks.
- Collaborate with incident response teams and other IT personnel to resolve security issues.
Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a SOC Analyst role or similar security operations function.
- Familiarity with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, LogRhythm, QRadar).
- Understanding of common cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
- Knowledge of network protocols and security principles.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by the SOC schedule.
