SEMH Teaching Assistant - Reading
Are you passionate about supporting young people and interested in a career in education?
Academics are working with a supportive secondary school in Reading who are looking for a caring and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from September.
This is a great opportunity for an aspiring teacher, recent graduate, youth worker or someone with experience supporting young people.
Your Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH)
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
- Help students manage their emotions and behaviour.
- Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
- Build positive relationships with students.
- Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff.
- Help create a safe and supportive learning environment.
We're Looking For in a SEMH Teaching Assistant

- Passionate about supporting young people.
- Confident managing challenging behaviour.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, positive and professional.
- Interested in developing a career within education.
- Previous experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour is desirable but not essential.
Role Information
- Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
- Location: Reading
- School: Secondary School
- Start Date: September
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
- Pay: £93-£110 per day
- Contract: Full-time
Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
