SEN Learning Support Assistant – BS16

Are you an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant with a strong background supporting children with Autism (ASD) and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA)?

Protocol Education is currently recruiting for a full-time, permanent SEN LSA to support a pupil on a 1:1 basis within KS2 at a primary school in BS16 (Downend).

This is a specialist role requiring someone with previous experience supporting children with ASD and PDA who can provide consistent, patient and individualised support.

The Role

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil. Support the pupil with ASD and PDA needs throughout the school day. Implement individualised learning and support strategies. Help the pupil access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities. Support emotional regulation, communication and positive behaviour. Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil. Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team. Maintain a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

Previous experience working as an SEN LSA, SEN TA, Teaching Assistant or similar role. Essential: Previous experience supporting children with ASD and PDA. Experience providing 1:1 support in a primary school or similar setting. Understanding of autism and demand-avoidant behaviours. Patient, calm and adaptable approach. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to implement individual support and behaviour strategies consistently. Reliable and committed to supporting the pupil's development and wellbeing. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
