SEN Teaching Assistant - Temp to Perm Location: Clapham, London Salary: GBP14.25 - GBP16.68 per hour Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Temporary to Permanent Start Date: November Start SEN Teaching Assistant Required Prospero Teaching is working in partnership with a specialist education setting in the Somerset area to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and is looking for a rewarding role with the potential to become permanent. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who may have a range of needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties. You will play a key role in helping students access education, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
The Role
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Promoting engagement and positive behaviour within the classroom.
- Assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning activities.
- Building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and social development.
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and communication needs. The Ideal Candidate
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries.
- Backgrounds in education, care, youth work, support work, coaching, or similar sectors are welcomed.
