About the Setting

This is a very small specialist school within a larger group of SEND provisions. Staffing ratios are high, groups are tiny and the school is being rebuilt under its headteacher, who wants a teacher able to shape the maths curriculum from the ground up.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading numeracy across the school, using KS1 and KS2 objectives presented in a way that suits teenagers

• Teaching functional maths through real tasks such as handling money, telling the time, weighing and measuring

• Tracking progress against EHCP outcomes and adjusting plans each half term

• Planning with the literacy lead and directing teaching assistants in lessons

• Keeping routines predictable and responding calmly if a pupil becomes dysregulated

• Attending the weekly staff meeting, which runs until 3:45pm

About You

• Qualified teacher with QTS or QTLS; primary-trained candidates are particularly welcome

• Confident teaching early maths at KS1/KS2

• Experience of SEN or learning disabilities, or a mainstream primary teacher ready to move into SEND

• Able to pitch work at KS1 level while keeping it respectful of older learners' age

A calm, dedicated and nurturing teacher who likes knowing every pupil as an individual.
